I have a serious love affair with fluorescent and neon pinks. When I painted Elmsdale, I wanted to bring all of that crazy brightness into the canvas but still allow it to be hung softer environments too. I love how it sits with the muted fuchsia and mauves on this canvas. The top heavy tones also leave an almost floating like feeling at the bottom of the canvas.
Abstract art is art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead use shapes, colours, forms and gestural marks to achieve its effect.
